GERMAN BELIEVES REAL COULD TURN IT AROUND

Bernd Schuster and Alfonso Pérez, two players who formerly played for Real Madrid and Barcelona, were involved in an event that a Champions League sponsor held at Madrid's historic Chamberí metro station, where they talked about the fast-approaching semi-final fixtures involving 'Los Blancos' and the 'Azulgranas' up against Borussia and Bayern respectively.
When Schuster was asked about the growing power of German football and a possible end to the recent dominance of Real Madrid and Barcelona, he was forthright with his answer: "Football works in generations. Over recent years Spain has had a great team and has produced some fantastic players, but every cycle comes to an end, much like what happened with Italy or Brazil. German football is trying to climb to the top of the pile right now".
"Real Madrid and Barça are both amazing teams and they are both playing the return legs at home. They might have big deficits to overcome, but if there are two teams that are capable of pulling it off, then it's them. History shows us that they are able to", said Alfonso, who added: "Patience is essential in overcoming a deficit".
Schuster continued in much the same vein: "The first legs produced surprising results, but you have to believeit's possible to turn the ties around". The German thinks that Mourinho's team has a better chance of getting through though: "There's something magical about the Bernabéu. The stadium has already seen some historic nights and the goals can fly in there".
