"FIGHT FOR EVERY BALL AS IF IT WERE THE LAST THING YOU DID IN LIFE"

Former Real Madrid legend, Carlos Santillana, is one of the best examples of the club's historic European comebacks between 1975 and 1985. Teams like Derby County, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Inter Milan and Anderlecht all experienced stage-fright and caved in at the Bernabéu.
"They were electric matches that were full of emotion. I remember the Bernabéu got right behind the team from the first minute to the ninetieth", the former international striker said.
"When we managed to turn around games that we were losing, we were all convinced after in the changing room that we could come back from anything at the Bernabéu, with the fans' support - one hundred thousand voices screaming at the top of their voices", Santillana added.
"Apart from being focussed, you had to put the opponent under real pressure, fight for every ball as if it were the last thing you did in life", the former Real striker said.
"Nowadays at the club there are players who can fire in free-kicks, not just Ronaldo. They must take advantage of this and hope to get free-kicks around the edge of the box. But you don't just win football matches with quality, which is what we have, you also have to be clever at certain points of the game. You must fight to the death for every ball", Santillana concluded.
